Last Day of 4th Grade GT

These kids are SO creative! As a final challenge this year, students embarked on a photography scavenger hunt. They had some crazy requirements - from soaring in the air to extreme close-ups - What a day to spend with friends! Here are their photography challenge collages.

Forced Perspective Photography

We make assumptions based on our limited perspectives. Today students put their creative thinking and communication skills to the test as they created forced perspective photography.

Pipe-Cleaner Challenge

Real world companies face challenges such as layoffs, cutbacks. and outsourcing. How do these effect the final products? Find out how our 4th graders dealt with these challenges in this short challenge.

Animoto Vocabulary Movie

 The kids created short Animoto movies to "teach" one of their Architecture and Engineering vocab words.  They found examples of their word and put them in educational and entertaining videos to share!

Tunnels & Dams

Today we played in the dirt! Students explored the amazing engineering of tunnels and dams. We learned types and techniques as well as some history of the engineering processes. Making models is a great way to explore the challenges involved. Check out our busy day in this short video!

Ever wonder how strong an egg is? Well that dome shape makes even weak materials strong! Check out our dome activities.

Oh, odes, oh, you creative odes,
How vividly you portray the things we love!

I can't imagine a more interesting way to describe our fondness.

 If you haven't already guessed, 4th graders were challenged to focus on dramatic word choice and exaggeration as they wrote odes to some wonderful inanimate objects. Check them out below!

Fish Friends

Fourth graders are learning leadership skills as they work with a second grade Fish Friend during our Trout in the Classroom project this year. This week they met their little friend and observed the trout eggs up close! What fun to learn together!
